The methodology of peer education takes the peergroup as its point of departure: its purpose is to stimulate young people to support, motivate and guide other young people who have the same background or world of experience – i.e. peers.

The cooperation with different European partners has led to an exchange and development of knowledge, material and methodology concerning peer education.

The purpose of the Peer Educators Trainers project is to develop a manual for the trainers, i.e. the educators and counsellors of the peer educators.

The final product of this project is a manual that deals with:

  • The initial phase and the development of a peer education project;
  • The motivation of the school team;
  • The recruitment of young people;
  • The screening of potential peer educators;
  • Different points to bear in mind during the training and guidance of the peer educator.

All the materials developed support:

  • The starting up of peer-working in a school or Centre for part-time Vocational Secondary Education;
  • The training of peer educator trainers;
  • The training of peer educators.
